The purpose of this study is to research the ancient book "Ching Chiao Cheng Ti Li Hsin Su" which seemed to be officially published by the Soon/Chin Dynasty Goverment(A.D.1192). The preliminary objective is to search for any operational Wuhsing Geomancy system contained in the book, and the ultimate purpose is to find out the idelogy concerning the good and bad omens as well as the spatial consideration. From this particular angle it is tried to reconstruct and explain the tradtional Chinese concepts of living space and structure. At the beginning the author consolidated those good fortunes and bad calamity standards into frames such as the conditions of the resident, pure geomancy standards, judged from the environmental conditions, the interactions between the residential building orientation and the surrounding geography, and good and bad fortune due to the residence building design itself. According to the above frames the author proceeded the analysis orderly, and procured the idea that the universe is consisted of the five elements and "Wuhsing" represents that all people belong to one of these five elements, so that ecologically there are conflicts among people, residence, and environment. The ideology of good and bad fortune of Wuhsing Geomancy practitioners is to follow a constant and smooth heaven''s way to judge the good or bad fortune including the principle of five elements rotating control of each other, the rules of rise and fall, as well as the ideal abstractive spatial images such as family order, Yin-Yang and following or against it. Furthermore, these practitioners combine the common principles of judging geomancy selection of building site, and related judgement experiences, and taboos to build up Wuhsing Geomancy building site selection standards. Wuhsing Geomancy selection of residential building environment and designs come grom the mind offear and respect to the nature is consisted of the five elements that is the analytical way of ancient Chinese in explaining the phenomena of the nature. It is obvious that Wuhsing Geomancy has been influenced by the knowledge of universe constructed by Yin-Yang theory and in turn it affected the selection and design of the residential buildings.-1 -aA tentative Reconstruction of the Buildings Site Selection manipulative System on the basis od the Wuhsing Geomancy Couveyed in the Ancient Book "Chung CHiao Cheng Ti Li Hsin Su"
