Besides the pollinating wasps, many animals also take advantage of the figs, such as the nonpollinating wasps. In the past, most studies were focused on the monoecious figs, thus very little is known about the ecology of the functionally dioecious ( gynodioecious ) figs. Ficus septica is a functionally dioecious fig and distributed commonly throughout lowland Taiwan. This thesis is trying to understand the interact relationships among F. septica and associated pollinating as well as nonpollinating wasps. I especially addressed the following questions : 1) The flowering phenology of F. septica and to what extent did it affect the dynamics of wasps populations ? 2) How many species of nonpollinating wasps were associated with F. septica. ? 3) The effects of foundress number on the sex ratio adjustment of pollinating wasps and on the fitness of F. septica. 4) The effects o The data showed: 1) F. septica flowered one to four crops a year, and have year-round flowering and fruiting patterns. 2) Trees usually flowered synchronously within individuals but flowered asynchronously among individuals. 3) When the study area have D phase trees, both female and male figs ( syconia ) have higher percentage of continuing development to C phase ( inter-floral phase ) rather than being aborted. 4) The average ovipositor length of pollinating wasps is longer than the average style length o Sun,I - Fang 孫義方 1998 學位論文 ; thesis 92 zh-TW
