Description
Summary:碩士 === 東吳大學 === 經濟學研究所 === 86 === During the process of economic development of Taiwan (from the high growth in the 60s and 70s to the lower growth in the 80s), our government continued to make painstaking effort in public facilities, economic policies, and recreation of industries. In recent years, our government greatly tries to build 亞太營運中心 in order to promote the international competition of Taiwan, further to help Taiwan transform quickly from traditional industries to technical industries, and continue to keep the growth in economy. Therefore, under these goals of economic development, the economic policies of our government are made for achieving them. In other words, the increase of international competition ensures the economy of the country, national income, and the growth of social welfare; that is, national competition relates to the living standard of the country: the stronger the national competition is, the higher the living standard will be, and vice versa. Therefore, the promotion of international competition becomes important objectives of many governments. Just because of the relation between international competition and economical activities, international competition becomes the way to judge if a country will have good performance in economic activities and welfare when compared with other countries. So, it is worthwhile to probe into the index of international competition. I collect the information of annual variables of many countries to be the sample points of the model of econometrics and use the statistical method of 3SLS to analyze regressively the simultaneous equation models analysis of this research. The conclusions are as follows: (1) From the output of the model of the growth rate of GDP, we can find that the growth rate of GDP is obviously influenced by exports and imports. Therefore, if a countries adopts the strategy of expanding exports, the higher national living standard will be created. (2) From the output of the model of the function of market share of exports, we can find from this research that the growth rate of the function of market share of exports is obviously influenced by the rate of technical advance and the growth rate of terms of trade. Therefore, if a country wants to promote the growth rate of the function of market share of exports, they have to increase the rate of technical advance and decrease the growth rate of terms of trade. (3) The growth rate of the function of market share of imports will be influenced by national consumption, the rate of technical advance, and exchange rate. Therefore, if a country wants to promote the international competition by decreasing the growth rate of the function of market share of imports, they have to improve the technical standard and exchange rate. About the variable of national demand, it is not necessarily to decrease the national demand of a country due to the total effects of the whole macroeconomics.
