Summary:碩士 === 靜宜大學 === 應用化學研究所 === 86 ===   For the study the substitutent effect on the chemical shifts of C(3) position, we prepared three series compounds containing twelve different substituents on the phenyl ring. There series of compounds include 2-ary1-2-hydroxy1-1,1,3,3-tetramethy1-5,8-dioxa-spiro[3.4] octane (4a-4I), 3-ary1-3-hydroxy1-2,2,4,4-tetramethylcyclobutanone (5a-5I), and 1-aryl-2,2,4-trimethy1-1,3-pentadione (6a-6I). The carbon of the carbonyl groups of compound 5 series demonstrate more substituent chemical shifts (SCS) than that of comparable carbon on the pentadiones 6, which is resulted from the transannular effect in the series of compound 5. The slope for the line in the correlation between the SCS and Hammett constant was -1.737 with correlation coefficiency (r2=0.852). In contrast, the corresponding carbon in the series of compound 6 gave no correlation line.
