Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 工程技術研究所 === 86 === In this study, local logos from just after the Retrocession of Taiwan from the years 1946 to 1960 were collected, recorded, and design analysis undertaken using the Document Survey Method. Investigations were made into changes in logo design in these early years by composite analysis of design elements and design. Furthermore, a summary was made into the relationships between and the characteristics of logos used in different industries and during different years. The results of the study follow:1.A round frame was a very common component of early logos. Later logos used designs that were in themselves circular in nature. Symmetry was another prevalent feature during this period, whether the main part of the logo was writing or a design. 2.As a result of the effect of situation of the material environment of post-war Taiwan, the majority of logos were for basic materials in the food, medical, and transportation industries. The machinery and finance industries had not as yet formed. By 1946,logos had generally already begun to use writing and simplified motifs as well as symmetry in their designs. By1951, the use of artistic writing in logos was on the decline and being gradually replaced by either illustrations of being used in combination with illustrations. By 1958,there had been a steady increase in logos for machinery. The amount of round logos were becoming less common than other types, illustrating a shift in design which was no longer limited to mainly round shapes. 3.The motifs for the majority of logos in the early years after Retrocession were Chinese characters. Many logos were also made up of artistic writing set within frames the majority of which were circular. The logos that utilized artistic Chinese writing were, for the most part, symmetric and most common before the ''''50''''s. The most common logos in this study were a combination of writing and illustration signifying that most people were still used to this type of logo. Simplification in design was the most common goal in the majority of illustration-type logos. In the mid ''''50''''s, a round frame was still one of the most common components. Toward the end of the ''''50''''s, there was a gradual trend towards using the shape of the illustration itself in the design.
