The ultimate objective may be a multimediatermi nal, capable of wireless access to a global network which can transportvoice, images, and video to the user. However, there are many factors that degrade th e communication quality. In this thesis, we will implement an IF/baseband arch itecture module for wirelss LAN on a 4-layer PCB.The proposed system, conformi ng to the IEEE 802.11 standard, employs DSSS techniques. The DSSS baseband pro cessor, IF modulator/demodulator, carrier frequency synthesizer, and the contr oler are put together to build the overallsystem. The data rate is 2Mbps and t he processing gain is 10.4dB in baseband.The IF carrier frequency is specified at 280MHz, whereas signal bandwidth is 22 MHz.The testing results prove that the IF/baseband module for WLAN fully works and meets the IEEE 802.11 standar d.
