The design is based mainly on the experiments, whereas the analysis is used as initial phase for the experiment. Due to the requirement of Omni-directional radiation pattern in the azimuth plane, We choose CPW-fed back-to-back patch antenna as the design object. The patches are divided into several pieces to increase the bandwidth and meet the broad-band requirement. Also, a parameter study is performed to investigate the effects on the characteristics of the antenna, including comparison between effects of finite and infinite sizes of the substrate.
