ch of architectural forms of cluster housing facade and color along the Taiwan
''s eastern coast. The research area is within the scope of ten Villages (Yen-
liao、Shui-lien、Chi-chi、Kuei-an、Fen-pin、Li-te、Shi-men、Shin-ti、Takang-ko
、Ching-pu) located on the HualienCoastal Highway 11. The primary purpose is
not only to preservethe fading cluster housing facade, but to study the proper
interrelationships among the architectural environment, climatic condition an
d cultural background. In addition, the attempt oftrying to find a basic and
experimental design system to recoverthe meaningful accordance of traditional
cluster housing design along the easter coast is also the crucial issue of thi
s article. The five major parts (in seven chapters) of this article are fol
lowing :1.The statement of pratical field survey on the architural types of c
luster housing.2.The discussion of factors which effect the architectural styl
e used in coastal cluster housing, natural environment, industrial condition
, family construction, cultural valuation and construction way.3.Element ana
lysis of the architectural forms of cluster housing along the coast.4.Analysi
s on the choice of primary color used separately in roof & wall.5.Suggestion
about the imitative evaluation of improvement program of coastal cluster hou
sing, including the architetual forms of facade, color and preservation.
The results of this article can be listed as. .Assembling the architectural
types and features as well as find the factors effecting the facades and co
lors of the coastal cluster housing. .Choosing the optimal scope of prim
ary colors which can be used in roof & wall of the coastal cluster housing
. .Using computer imitative technics to solve the disorder visual confli
cts and to offer the architectual presevation suggestion.Key words: Easter
