碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 園藝學系研究所 === 86 === Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the i
nfluence on emotional experiences of physical and aesthetic attribu
tes in urban sculpture sites. Physical attributes are: two catalogues of
outdoor space arealarger than 100㎡and smaller than 100㎡, two
catalogues of sculpture dimension isthe multiplication of the maximum widt
h and height larger than 20㎡and smaller than 20㎡, as well as two kinds
of sculpture material? metal and stone have been examined as the af
fecting factors. Aesthetic attributes was theme, simplicity, mass, com
plexity, technology, balance, and contrast, according to the literature.
The emotional experiences survey was proceeded right on the spots which
was selected according to the investigation results of sculpture sites in
Taipei. The aesthetic scores was obtained from professional sculptors.
Statistic methods such as factor analysis, T-test, and correlation w
ere employed to examine the consequence. The results are summarized as
follow: 1. Four fu
ndamental emotional experiences are found through factor analysis. They are
distressing-fearful, leisurely-calm, exhilarating-joyful, and disorder-a
wful. 2. Different space area with consistent sculpture types
lead to distinct emotional responses on leisurely-calm. Different s
culpture dimensions with the same material in the same catalogue of sp
ace area lead to distinct emotional responses on distressing- fearful,
leisurely-calm, exhilarating-joyful. And different sculpture materials lead t
o distinct emotional responses on distressing-fearful.
3. For "distressing-fearful" emotional responses, the
most sensible status was setting the larger dimension metal sculptures on t
he sites in larger area. For "leisurely-calm", the answer was on setting
the smaller metal sculptures on the larger sites. For "exhil
arating-joyful", setting the larger metal sculptures on the smaller sites coul
d bring to the extreme situation.
4. Whatever on the larger or smaller spaces, the str
ongest emotional responses toward the larger sculptures was "exhilarat
ing-joyful", and the most favored emotional responses toward the
smaller sculptures was "leisurely-calm". 5. T
he correlation between the degrees of aesthetic attributes and emotional respo
nses only happened on "exhilarating-joyful" for all research sites. Cha
racters about theme, technology, and contrast of sculpture would lead t
o this emotional experience. In different catalogue of physical si
tuation of sculpture-site status, aesthetic attributes would have correla
tion with different emotional experiences. Ke
y Words: emotional experience, sculpture, sites, physical attribute, aesthetic
attribute.
