Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 植物病蟲害學系研究所 === 86 === Three genera and 9 species including 2 new species of the tribe Ponerini of
Ponerinae from Taiwan are described and illustrated. Keys to the species for
workers are presented. The names of 9 species are listed as follows:
1. Anochetus taiwaniensis Terayama, 1989
2. Anochetus subcoecus Forel, 1912
3. Anochetus lanyuensis n. sp.
4. Anochetus kentingensis n. sp.
5. Odontomachus monticola Emery, 1892
6. Leptogenys diminuta (Fr. Smith, 1857)
7. Leptogenys kitteli (Mayr, 1870)
8. Leptogenys confucii Forel, 1912
9. Leptogenys chinensis (Mayr, 1870)
Comparatively morphological studies of the head, mesosoma, petiole, gaster
and their measurements of workers and queens revealed several useful characters
in taxonomy, such as in the head: index and form of head, clypeus and frontal
carina distance, and the form of mandible or the length of antennal scape; in
the mesosoma: the conformation of mesonotum and propodeum; in the petiole: the
conformation of petiole and subpetiolar process; and the gaster contraction; or
the conformation and site of the sculpture, but the pilosity can be only used
as supporting taxonomic character. A cladogram plotted by cladistic MacClade
3.05 and PAUP 3.1.1 analysis program impliesthat the species in Anochetus Mayr,
and Leptogenys Roger are the monophylyor paraphyly. Anochetus and Odontomachus
Latreille may have closer phylogeny.
