The facial and interior characteristics of different types of materials-artificial graphite, montmorillonite, mortar and reinforced mortar-are estimated by means of computer calculating and plotting. The study contains three subjects: First, surface potential measurements made between two half-cell electrodes will indicate that the different interior oxidation-reduction reactions caused the different surface potential disposal and the influence of reinforcing steel in mortar. Next is performed Wenner four-electrodes method to determine the features of interior structure. According to deriving the theoretical equations, it revealed the difference of structures would cause variable impedance. It then describes the features of impedance, structures, and homogeneity would result in the interior oxidation-reduction reactions. About this results is proved by the results of surface potential measurements. In addition, under the relationship with the distances between measured electrodes and probing depth, it could determine the location and depth of the embedded reinforcing steel. Third, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was used to probe the mechanism of testing materials, and reaction parameters evaluated using an equivalent circuit model. It could indicate the characteristics of equivalent circuit elements interior and the reducing phenomenon of impedance reduced by the embedded reinforcing steel.
