Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 外國語文學系研究所 === 86 === This thesis tries to bring the consideration of queer issues/sexualitiesinto t he realm of contemporary Chinese American literature. Three literary texts ar e examined here: one, David Henry Hwang's play, <<M. Butterfly>>, whose relati onship between the Caucasian white male Orientalistand the Chinese female impe rsonator is focused; two, David Wong Louie's story "Pangs of Love", in which t he relation between nativism and assimilation is discussed along with camp and the epistemology of thecloset; three, Norman Wong's story cycle, <<Cultural R evolution>>, whoseinterplay of diaspora and immigration on a young gay man as a ChineseAmerican is analysed. The thesis discusses the negotiations of (Chin ese American) ethnicities and(homo)sexualities.
