Here we report the properties of metal complexes of N,N'-bis((-pyridyl)-2,6- diaminopyridine (H2tpda) in detail. Two types of metal complexes with different conformations were synthesized by using H2tpda ligand. We obtained different mono- nuclear complexes of FeⅡ,CoⅡ,NiⅡ,CuⅡ and ZnⅡ all in anti form and determined their crystal structure. Linear penta- nuclear complexes in all-syn form were also synthesized successfully. We also could obtain linear tetra- nuclear metal- chain complexes by controlling the ratio of metal ion and ligand. These results were characterized by FAB. In addition, we substituted axial position of linear tri-, penta-nuclear metal- chain complexes by bridged bidentate to obtain one dimensional metalichain polymers. The polymer [Ni3(dpa)4(H3C5O4)]n(BF4) nxplores the possibility of synthesizing the alloy molecule metalwire by bridging the different metal string complexes.
