It also consults the relational research compl eted at our laboratory before. With the required optical components and instru ments, a series of essential mechanical experiments of fiber grating sensors h ave been designed and proceeded to establish the whole reference data of our l aboratory in measurement research. The experiment and simulation results revea l that the recoating of fiber grating sensors can not only protect the sensor itself from breaking but also reuse when the measurement work have been finish ed. The other advantage of the recoating is to increase the allowable measurem ent range but degrades the resolution at the same time. Fiber grating sensors have also been found to measure the change of temperature and strain. In addit ion they can evaluate the thermal Tefficient of the material we measure. Final ly the thesis use the instrument designed by ourselves to detect the change of the stress and strain of an optical fiber in tension.
