This stu dyfocuses on the mechanism of weakening effected by water with a microscopic aspect. The mineralogy, texture, porosity and density of selected sandstones, the sandstone of Mushan formation and the sandstone of Tongken formation, have been studied together with the changing of strength and deformability related with moisture and dry-wet cycles. Microscopic charaters, in particular mineral composition, grain contact and fracture propagation, are used to explain the behavior of weakening. Compare with mechanical properties and microscopic charaters, we suppose that the weakening of Mushan sandstone and Tongken sandstone is caused by the decreasing of the amount of matrix and reduseing the ability of cementation. 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 土木工程學系研究所 === 86 === The weakening of sandstones means the decreasing of strength under special
conditions, such as the changing of stress, temperature or moisture. This stu
dyfocuses on the mechanism of weakening effected by water with a microscopic
aspect.
The mineralogy, texture, porosity and density of selected sandstones, the
sandstone of Mushan formation and the sandstone of Tongken formation, have been
studied together with the changing of strength and deformability related with
moisture and dry-wet cycles. Microscopic charaters, in particular mineral
composition, grain contact and fracture propagation, are used to explain the
behavior of weakening.
Compare with mechanical properties and microscopic charaters, we suppose that
the weakening of Mushan sandstone and Tongken sandstone is caused by the
decreasing of the amount of matrix and reduseing the ability of cementation.
