Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立台東師範學院 === 國民教育研究所 === 86 === The Civics Textbooks in Junior High SchoolToward the Content Analysis of Polit ical SocializationMing-Hsien HsiehAbstract The main goal of this study was to analyze the similarities and differences of civics textbooks in junior high s chool among the year 1968,1972,1983 to 1989 editions, and to discuss the relat ionship of political development and the change of textbook content. This stud y documented the revise and development of civics textbooks, explained the mea ning and purpose of civil education, and discussed the theory of political soc ialization, upon which the research instrument were developed. Based on David Easton''s political systematic theory, “political community”,“political reg ime”,“authorities”and“policy tendency” were taken as main categories. Ea ch main category had three to four sub-categories. This study used “paragrap h” as analytic unit . “Main subject” was explaining what the main idea in a paragraph. “sub-subject”was describing what the other ideas were carried in the paragraph. The results of this research were as follows:1. The texts cont ents of political socialization which ranges from 57% to 67% was the main them e of each edition.2. The portion of main subject and sub-subject was changing , with the main subject out numbering the sub-subject. 3. The key points of m ain subject were political norms, political values, national construction and national culture .4. The key points of sub-subject were political leader, nat ional culture and political norms. But, the portion of political leader in su b-subject is going down from outshining others. 5. The developing trend of te xt content.(1) Political community category: "National culture" was based on Confucius and Mencius schools which played a important role in each edition. The content of "political symbol" and "patriotic sentiment", however, had been lacking all the time.(2) Political regime category: "Political values" and "political norms" had been the major parts of each edition. The editors tend to give students knowledge about laws and politics. As to the "authority struc tures", it just played a minor part in this category. (3) Authorities categor y:In the content of "political leader", Chiang Kai-shek was mostly mentioned, followed by Sun Yat-sen and Chiang Jin-kwo. Yen Chia-gan was merely mentioned a few times while Lee Don-hwei was mentioned none. Over 95% of the text conten t of "political leader" were through the channel of sub-subjects. As for "poli tical group" and "political staff" were only mentioned a little bit in each ed ition. (4) Policy tendency category:The portion of text content of "hostile t endency" was getting less to almost none in the 1989 edition. "Mainland China policy" was almost depicted none in every edition. "National construction" was getting more in text content ."Spiritual construction" appeared in the form o f main subject although it was mentioned just a few. 6. The relationship betw een the development of text contents and political scenes.(1)The main connotat ion of main subject was based on the law politics, national culture and nation al construction. The contents of the sub-subject were mostly covered by the e uphuism toward the “political leaders”. (2)Political scenes had two points c orresponded to the text contents. First of all, with the authority going away little by little, the text content of the "political leader" was getting less . Second, with Taiwan and Mainland China gradually mutuality each other, the t ext content of "hostile tendency" was also becoming less in each edition. At l ast, suggestions were to the education administrative and the editors of civic s textbooks, based on the results of this study.
