Container yard connect carriers andcargo owners and responsible for efficient delivery from port to inlandpoint. Their layout planning are very important and worth to discuss. The function of container freight station is a breakbulk of import and export goods. It is notonly a relay of outbound transportation,also a distribution center ofinland ransportation. A larger area for goods handling and storage isnecessary. Therefore, selection of hub location is related to geographicalcompetitive advantage of companies,and the activities of container yard also haveimpact on their social cost.The consideration for selecting location of facilities were onlydistance from port, cost of land, and regulation. None research has built aproper evaluation model for the best location of hubs. Therefore, this studybuilds a evaluation model of container yard location depends on operationalcharacteristic of current container yard locations, related regulation, and upper planes,then use efficiency and cost as factors in multipurpose decision analysis todefine proper hub locations and building series in northern Taiwan.
