The research approaches mainly rely on an on-line questionnaire and a search log. From the search log, one can understand the usage rate of each access point, the transition of access points during query session, the rate of 'zero results',and the reasons leading to zero results. From the online questionnaire, one can find how satisfied are users with query processes and query results, the cases users find their search items, and the uxefulness of fuzzy search and term suggestion in helping users find their search items. The main conclusions are as follows: 1.Both fuzzy search and term suggestion have high usage; 2. mostusers can use the best query strategy implicitly designed in the integrated system; 3. relevance ranking, term suggestion, and term relevance feedback are helpful for result browsing, query term selection, and term relevance feedback are helpful for result browsing, query term selection, and finding further related information, espectively; 4. most users are satisfied with query processes; 5. as to query results, the low 'zero results' rate has satisfied most searchers. In spite of these findings, there are improvements to be made such as more powerful fuzzy search for English, enhancing the browsing function for viewing multiple detailed records in one page, and enhancing the on-line instructions. 游光昭 1998 學位論文 ; thesis 200 zh-TW
