Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立台中師範學院 === 國民教育研究所 === 86 === The purpose of this study was to explore the cocept of animals '' chassification and their perception selection in primary school children. Both survey and interview were used to achieve this purpose. The subjects were selected from eight schools in Taichung city , and totally 576 children from first to sixth grade involved in questionnaire.Based on their responses, thirty-six pupils were further interviewed in depth. The most significant findings are summarized as follows: 1.Most of animals which primary school children can point out in their daily lives are mammals, and amphibians are the least. And they know the names of those animals mainly from books are well as their parents. 2.When primary school pupils classified the animal pictures such as bats, whales, penguins , grebes, butterflies, salamanders, and spiders, the rate of error is higher than 85% . 3.The pupils with different backgrounds classified the five classes of vertebrates and insects significant different. 4.The reasons why primary school pupils classify the five classes of vertebrates and insescts are far different from the experts'' classification features, but they have demonstrated a wide varitety. 5.The ways for children to make sense from various pictures of animals are different . The high-achieving group tend to use the combined way of observing prototype and obvious features. but the lower-achieving group tend to use the combined way of observing obvious features. 6.The different visual stimulus-cards have influence pupils''classification of animals. However, children are not familira with the main features of animals. 7.Primary school childrens''abilityof class inclusion does not improve consummately. and they have alternative conceptions on their criteria of animal classification. 8.Primary school children are in general rery good at observing and their reasoning in animal classification is diffuse. They have showed considerably good competence in classification to get in common from different things.
