Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 企業管理研究所 === 86 === The research question of this study is based on the questionnaire of 1991 Industrial and Commercial Census. This study exploresthree questions: (1) what are the compositional characteristics offirms within an industry that influence the conformity of how the firm perceives about their environments? (2) what are thecompositional characteristics of the firms within an industry that influence the conformity of how the firm intends to adopt thestrategies in the future? (3) Does ''conformity'' mean good industry performance? We find that the industry category, average age of firms withinan industry, and size variation are the factors that influence thefirms'' consensus on perceived environments within an industry. The factors that influence the firms'' consensus on intendedstrategies within an industry are size variation and market concentration. Besides, we find that if an industry with higherfirms'' consensus on perceived environments, it doesn''t mean thatthere will be higher firms'' consensus on intended strategieswithin the industry. The relationship between consensus on perceived environments and industry performance is negative. Firms'' consensus on intended strategies is also negatively related to industry performance.
