Geographic InformationsSystem (GIS) is a system that can be used to store and analyze spatial data. In this thesis, a Computer-Aided-Design(CAD) package, a Database Management System (DBMS) and a rulebase tool FRAMME areintegrated to build a GIS. An interface of the developed GIS and it''sapplication in small area load forecast is developed. The geographicinformation embedded in the developed GIS is extracted to assist inthe small area load forecast, and an visual chinese man-machineinterface is developed to include this application function in the GIS and to show the forecast results. The developed, system will be helpfulfor future power market participants in their short term and long termload forecast and business decision making.
