Empirical polytropic equations wih temperature anisotropy areobtained from the best-fit of observations.Comparisons with the CGL and double-polytropic models are alsodiscussed. The magnetosheath crossings are devided into fiveequal spatoal areas based on their perturbation characteristics.All regions are analyzed in order to find their thermodynamicproperties. From the Earth's bow shock to the magnetopause, it isfound that the thermodynamic state will gradually evolve from anon-Maxwellian to an isothermal state and then approach to an adiabatic state near the magnetopause.
