準以及伺服器端與客戶端間所需的同步機制。它同時也提供了工業界一個
基本的準繩可以依循,以便能降低硬體的生產成本和增加由不同廠商所生
產硬體間的相容性。在本論文中,我們根據MPEG-II 系統層的標準設計並
實作 CATV 網路上的多工器/解多工器。這個多工器的目的是將一個或數
個的 MPEG-II 節目或者是私用資料(Private Data)流結合成一個單一
的傳輸資料流(Transport Stream)。相反的,解多工器則是將使用者所
需的資料從這傳輸資料流中抽取出來。再來,我們將焦點放在 CATV 網路
上的傳輸協定的設計。在這一部份,我們提出了私用 資料(Private
data)的傳輸協定、以及伺服器端與客戶端間資料傳輸所必需的控制信號
。在私用資料傳輸協定方面,為了避免多工器/解多工器的複雜性,因此
我們延用了 MPEG-II 系統層的標準並加以修改以符合私用資料的傳輸特
性。
MPEG-II standard provides the compression techniques and
synchronization mechanism for those applications such as
Video-on-Demand. It provides the industry with a baseline
principle to follow in order to reduce the cost of hardware and
improve the hardware interoperability. In this thesis, we
designand implement the MPEG-II multiplexer/demultiplexer of
CATV system that provides the VoD service and other private
data services according to the MPEG_II standard. The
multiplexer is in charge of multiplexing several MPEG-
IIprograms/private data streams into a single transport stream.
On the other hand, the demultiplexer is in charge of
extracting the data needed by the individual user. After
that, we focus on the design of transport protocol in the
CATV system. At this part, we propose the private data protocol
and some necessary signalings such as connection setup
signaling, end_to_end signaling. For simplifying the design
of multiplexer/demultiplexer, we adopt and modify the
private_stream_2 defined in the MPEG-II system layer as our
private data protocol.
