Six players from each of three different levels (professional, county, and collegiate) had participated in this experiment. Among each level of six players, they are equally divided into center, forward, and guard position in numbers. The procedure of this experiment included three important parts. Players'' maximal aerobic power and physical characteristics were measured in the laboratory. Players'' heart rates during competition were recorded by the POLAR monitor. The relative heart rate responses and oxygen consumption were also calculated in order to justify the exercise intensity. By videotaping players'' movements during competition, the motion analysis of different players could be made. The analysis of physical characteristics, exercise intensity, and movement among different levels and positions was done by the one-way ANOVA test. The differences in physical characteristics among the same level or the position were compared by the Tukey test. The Scheffe test was used to differentiate the intensity and the movement styles among each individual level or position. The results of this study included three major portions:(1) The professional and the county players had wider palms than the collegiate players. The extended and flexed biceps girths of the professional players were greater than the collegiate players''. The height, arm length, forearm length, fingers, and low limb of centers and forwards were significantly greater than guards''. (2) There was no significant difference in seven categories of movement among different levels during the first half of competition, but a significant difference in moderate slide was found during the entire game. A significant difference was found in movement categories such as jogging, medium and slow-slide during the first half among different positions. There was also a significant difference in jumping and slow-slide during the entire game.(3) There was no significant difference in the relative heart rate responses and oxygen consumption during competition among different levels and positions.
