The BOD removal of sheet flow sewage is dominated by the area of the bottom bed. In order to increase the area of biofilm, this paper dredged two 25-meter channels and put plastic media in them. The sewage in the natural water way was pumped into the channels and aerated. Experiments were carried out to study the effect of dissolved oxygen (DO), hydraulic retention time (HRT) and volumetric loading. Result indicated that the removal of pollutant was dominated by the hydraulic retention time (HRT), the volumetric loading and the concentration of influent. One relationship was derived:In the media channel (horrizental)The percent of BOD removal=-31.22+2.02HRT+1.54Cin+213.91loadingIn the media channel (vertical)The percent of BOD removal=34.73+0.06Cin-339.98 loadingIn the blank channelThe percent of BOD removal=-6.54+1.89 Cin+29.44loadingKeyword:Self-purification, Biofilm, Hydraulic Retention Time (HRT), Volumetric Loading Wen Ching-Kawn 溫清光 1998 學位論文 ; thesis 106 zh-TW
