The structure of Pr2CuSi3 is consistent with the hexagonal AlB2 type.From themagnetic susceptibility measurements we observe a apparent spin-glass-like behavior at about Tf = 8 K. This behavior exists until the apply magnetic fieldreaches 2 Tesla. On the other hand,we observe an enlargement of specific heat. The coefficientof the term linear in temperature in the specific heat γ of Pr2CuSi3 is 509 mJ/mole‧K2 which is much larger, over 500 times, than that of normal metals.Thisis because the Pr atoms are in Al-sites and Si and Cu atoms occupy the B-sites randomly in the hexagonal AlB2 type structure of Pr2CuSi3. Pr3+ ions are located on the l-ayers separated by sheets composed of Si and Cu atoms. The randomnessof Si and Cu introduces a vary It is these random Pr-Pr exchange interactions that give rise to the spin-glass-like behavior, and this accounts for the largeobserved γ value.
