A direct boundary element with quadratic isoparametric elements inconjunction with the fundamental solution is used. The fundamental solutionbased on a known stress function for anisotropic material is derived, and a newcontact element has been developed. The method, procedure, and computer program are verified by elasticitysolutions in polar coordinates for eyebars and plates having an open as well asloaded hole. In turn, boundary tractions generated by the direct boundaryelement method allowing direct application of elasticity solutions arepresented. Such a scheme which couples the boundary element and analyticalmethods appears to be plausible, accurate and efficient for practicalapplications. The effects of friction and clearance between the pin and hole edge on thestresses are accounted for. A new relation for geometric compatibility isproposed. Stress distributions and the contact angle with slip and no-slipregions around the pin-loaded hole corresponding to various parameters areinvestigated. Some results are presented. Some aspects of pin-loaded plates including basic kinematics related to thecontact angle and moving boundary, validity and applicability of cosinedistribution of contact stress, effects of stiffness ratios as well asclearance and friction are presented. Empirical formulas based on computergenerated results for potential practical applications are suggested. The present method is effective and simple to use which can be implementedusing a personal computer. Chien-Chang Lin James Ting-Shun Wang 林見昌 汪定順 1998 學位論文 ; thesis 3 zh-TW
