Summary:碩士 === 高雄醫學院 === 醫學研究所 === 86 === A case-control study was designed to investigate the relation between cancer mortality and residents in communitites within 1km radius of a petrochemical industry at Chienchen District in Kaohsiung City.We obtained cases data from the death certificate during 1986-1997.July and selected matched controls with condition that sex,age(+2∼-2years) and case:control=1:2.The data was collected from the next-of-kin of cases and matched controls by using the face-to-face interview questionaire.The association between possible factors and cancer risk among all cancer cases,lung cancer case and non-lung cancer cases and matched controls was evaluate.Conditional logistic regression analysis was used to access the possible effects of risk factors.Our result showed that the risk factors such as smoking cigarette, drinking wine,chewing betel nut and residing duration was significant high.Cigarette smoking still played a main role of causing cancer comparing with nosmokers,the odds ratio individually was 4.17 (95%CI=1.60-10.85),2.64(95%CI=0.58-12.02) and 3.66(95%CI=1.53-8.77) among three study population.In addititon,the residing duration had an increasing risk trendency.And we found the inverse association for high frequent consumption of fruit(0.33,0.16-0.69;0.25,0.08-0.79;0.35,0.16-0.77).These finding shows that the more fruit they take,the better protective effect they will obtain.Additionally,we found smoking cigarette and residing duration have a synergistic effect. Therefore,we estimate the attributable risk proporation,included three potential factors smoking cigrette,residing duration and taking in fruit.Specially,the attributable risk about residing duration are 55.5%,37.2%and57.8% for all cancer cases,lung cancer cases and non-lung cancer cases and matched controls.
