Subjects were selected from one of the prestigious junior high schools in Kaohsiung. Among 265 questionaires completed in group testing, there were 211 valid ones. The results were: (1)The ''reject'',''expection'' and ''inconsistency''rearing attitudes in mothers and the ''reject'' and ''expection'' rearing attitudesin fathers were significantly positively correlated with students'' perceptionsof JHSEE stress. (2)The ''pamper'' rearing attitude in fathers was significantlynegatively correlated with students'' perceptions of JHSEE stress . (3)Theperception of JHSEE stress was significantly positively correlated with themental health of junior high school students. It seems that the negative parentalrearing attitudes were related to the perception of JHSEE stress and themental health of junior high school students. And the perception of JHSEE stress was related to the mental health. Suggestions were made to parents not to rear their children with negative attitudes. Future studies should focus more on finding out the factors related to JHSEE stress, approaching from different disciplines, in order to ameliorate students'' JHSEE stress.
