Description
Summary:碩士 === 朝陽大學 === 營建工程研究所 === 86 === ABSTRACT Tapered members are often used to achieve economy in order to save weight, or to satisfy architectural requirement in steel structural design. However, it is found that the subject of nonprismatic member has been studied very little for most of the research reports or papers in recent 30 years. From above, Discrete Element Model and incremental numerical method are used for developing a modified stiffness matrix method and a computer program with a very high generality to solve steel structure stability problems and produce effective length factor for tapered column member. Material nonlinearity and geometric nonlinearity are both considered in this study for analyzing. For analysis results, this study suggested a series of simple equations for effective length factors for tapered steel columns. The analysis for solving considered that the tapered steel columns behave inelastically. Also, the experimental work which include some full scale of tapered steel members for determining the effective length factors in considered in this study. For verification, the results of the experimental work are going to be compared with the theoretical results in this study.
