碩士 === 朝陽大學 === 工業工程與管理研究所 === 86 === The purpose of this study is to design a desktop tape dispenser so as to improve its traditional functions by applying basic theories of hand-tool design. The prototype was then tested to compare its efficiency, safety, and applicability with two other commercially available tape dispensers. Tests were separated into two experiments. The first experiment was conducted to test 12 right-handed males in operating the prototype with it inclining 0, 45, and 90 degrees so as to determine the most efficient operating angle. In the second experiment, another 12 males were tested to compare efficiency, safety, and applicability of the prototype and two other commercial dispensers with the prototype inclining under the most efficient angle derived form the first experiment. In the first experiment, best operating efficiency was found to be 45 degrees. In the second experiment, results show the prototype has better safety then the other two commercial dispensers. Safety itself was found not significantly related to feeling of applicability, fatigue, and comfort. However, the prototype was less efficient than the commercial dispensers. This may because of it associating with subjects' unfamiliarity, lager operating forces, and larger arm movements. This study suggests improvement in operating forces may lead to further improvement of efficiency and comfort of the prototype.
