Summary: | 碩士 === 中原大學 === 心理學研究所 === 86 === The purpose of this thesis was to investigate therelationships between "Attitudes of Life and Death(includingthe meaning of life, the concept of death, and the deathanxiety)" and "Suicidal Risk" in adolescents. Furthermore, this study explored the role of "Attitudes of Life andDeath" between "Life Situations(environmental factors)" and"Perceived Coping Resources" and tried to find out the riskfactors which mostly influenced "Suicidal Risk". The sample consisted of 314 junior high students, whowere 166 males and 148 females, from a municipal junior highschool in Taipei. The instruments used in the study were「Scholastic Achievement 」、 「 Life Situations 」、 「 thePurpose in Life Test 」、 「 the Concept of Death Scale 」、「 the Templer/McMordie Death Anxiety Scale 」、 「 theCoping Scale 」、 and 「 the Suicidal Risk Scale 」. Dataobtained in this study were analyzed by Descriptives,Frequencies ─ Percentiles, T-test, Pearson Product-momentCorrelation, Hierarchical Regression Analysis, and MultipleRegression Analysis. The results of this study were as follows: The factoranalysis of every scale shows that the construct validity issatisfied. Each scale is smoothly internally consistent. Thedeath concept of the female is more distorted than that ofthe male. The death anxiety of the female is higher thanthat of the male. The suicidal risk of the female is alsohigher than that of the male. The high-suicidal-risk grouphas more disadvantageous life situations, is more lacking inthe meaning of life, has more distored death concepts, ownsless perceived coping resources, or has higher suicidal riskthan the low-suicidal-risk group. In the results ofhierarchical regression analysis, the findings that theattitudes of life and death(including the meaning of life 、the concept of death 、 the death anxiety) can predict thesuicidal risk are not deniable. In the results ofcorrelation and stepwise multiple regression analysis, 「the Meaning of Life 」 and 「 LIfe Situations 」 are themost indicative variables to adolescents'' 「 Suicidal Risk」. 「 The Concept of Death 」 can also predict 「 theSuicidal Risk 」. Moreover,「 the Sense of Life Meaning 」is the most indicative variable to 「 the Suicidal Ideationand Plans 」, 「 Difficult Circumstances in School 」 isfound to be more predictive of「 the Previous SuicidalAttempt 」, and 「 Difficult Circumstances in Family ndInterpersonal Relations 」 can also predict 「 the SuicidalMotivation 」. To sum up, the more individual has disadvantageous lifesituations and inappropriate attitudes of life & death(including the meaning of life and the concept of death),the more he has internal stress. The previous conditiondeteriorates the quality of coping, so that the suicidalrisk may increase in degree. Based upon these results, some implications of thefindings were discussed and several suggestions werepostulated for future research.
