In 1996, the rate of population served with pipe was 88.85% and the total amount of water supply was 3.03 billion cube meters in Taiwan. The water supply system has a great benefited to the people in drinking water offering, environment quality maintaining, and urban and business developing. The development of the water supply industry in Taiwan can be seen as The purpose of this study is to investigate the development of water supply system of Taiwan within recent century. Furthermore, the encountered problems when developing the water supply system were discussed. In addition, the future development strategies were proposed, and the prospected goals were anticipated. Besides introduced the basic concepts of Taiwan''s water supply system, this study raised the goals and the strategies for the future development of the water supply system. The results of this The rate of population served with pipe in Taiwan will get into high rate period. It is necessary that to enhance water supply maintains and management, and to improve drinking water quality instead the expanding of supply system. It can not represent the importance if the planning performance goal is only based on the single evaluating index of high rate. Hence, service and operating performance evaluating indices with more obvious meaning should be used to reflect present environment. Hopefully, the mHaving well global planning and operating strategies and correct developing strategies and goals, water supply business can develop long-term and operate forever under the circumstance of changing rapidly and competing strength. By the way, the great prospect of water supply in Taiwan can be expected, and the benefit can be shared by all nationalism.
