Batsch. We evaluate its hepatoprotective, antifibrotic and antioxidant potential in chronic liver injury induced by CCl4 for 8 weeks. The results indicate that the increase of sGOT and sGPT activities in CCl4 liver injury reduces significantly by treated with Gypenoside Formulas. These Formulas elevate the A/G ratio and also have the effect of reducing the collagen content by 40%. These phenomena are confirmed by pathologic observation, and the thinner bands of liver collagen are also find. The results suggest that these drugs are hepatoprotective and anti-fibrotic agents. And their effects of anti-oxidation are attribute to the potential of Gypenoside Formulas as a free radical scavenger that inhibit lipid peroxidation and elevate the level of catalase.
