One of themain motivations comes from as abservation that many students in Taiwando not write well-written writings in English, even though they have studied English as a foreign language for years. Thus, the purpose ofthis study is to try to find a strategy to help students in Taiwan toenhance their English writing abilities. There are two groups of subjects; one group of subjects is thefirst year senior high student and the other group of subjects is the thirdyear senior high students. There are three different pars in the experiment;every subjects is asked to write an English writing in every part of the experiment. A memo, which is based on the theory of metacognition, is designed to gove to subjects in the process of the experiment. However, when the memo is presented to subjects are different in every part of the experiment. By doing so, it is easy tp perceive if subjects respond variablyto the metacognitive process. The result of the experiment shows that both groups of subjects makefewer mistakes through the help of the memo; that is to say, the metacognitiveprocess is one of the good strategies to enhance Taiwan senior high students'English writing abilities.
