In this thesis, we design an optical-electric modulator by combining prism and Schottky diode to modulate the magnitudes of reflectivity for incident light. According to the basic theorem , we find that the reflectivity of an incident light can be controlled by the depletion region of a Schottky diode. Since, the depletion region can be controlled by applying voltage, the reflectivity of an incident light can be modulated by applying voltage.
In the characteristicall simulation , we find that using Au-GaP Schottky diode can get the widest modulation range. In experiment, we use four different Schottky diodes. From the experiment, we get using Au-GaP Schottky diode as optical-electric modulator also can get the widest modulation range.
Though our optical-electric modulator device can not match the simulation results, it is worth for us to study in optical signal analysis from its low cost and high-precision.
