The purpose of this thesis is to design the DOEs for generating variable intensity spots. In this thesis, we introduce the principle and the technology of both the Iterative Fourier Transform algorithm (IFT) and the Iterative Discrete On-axis encoding methord (IDO), also explore the difference between them. In order to improve the uniformity and the control of target spots intensity, we use the temperature relaxation method and the weighting method and design the grating with software program. In our work, efficiency, dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio are used as the standard to judge the generated results from different design algorithms. Finally, we propose a modified design procedure based on IDO method, the simulation shows that it works well. Here, we use the MATLAB software to simulate and design the DOEs for variable intensity spot-array generation systems.
