of ballistic resistance for the Kevlar fabric and laminate.By
using the fragment simulating projectiles to test the specimens
with a sequential variation of stacked thicknesses , we can
calculate the loss of kinetic energy of each projectile after
passing through the specimen. Finally we analyze the energy
data by the regressional analysis and set-up the mathematical
model of ballistic resistance.
The analyzed results indicate that the mathematical relationship
between the ballistic resistance and the material thickness or
areal density is a second order polynominal function for the
stacked fabrics and a power function for the laminates. And
the more the thickness or areal density of the Kevlar fabric
and laminate , the higher the ballistic resistance.
The conclusions of this study are valuable for the further
realization on the behavior of Kevlar ballistic resistance. The
established mathematical model can be used for estimating the
Kevlar ballistic resistance and will be very useful for the
Kevlar armor development and design.
