The design of a restrictor in a hydrostatic thrust air bearing is very important for the performance of an air bearing. The stiffness, weight capacity and stability of the orifice restrictor are not bad. Because the government equaltion is too complicated, it is difficult to optimize all the properties. The main purpose of this thesis is to discuss the orifiece restrictor. That include the performance and stability analysis, also shows the depth of grooves, the pressure of the bearing how to influence the performance and stability. finally, this thesis proposes an example in order to display how to design a hydrostatic air bearing of the orifice restrictor.
