Summary: | 碩士 === 大同工學院 === 材料工程學系 === 85 === Due to the weak Van der Weals* bonding between the graphite
basal planes ,several atoms and molecules can be inserted
between graphite layers to form graphite intercalation
compounds. In this study , the metal-chloride graphite
intercalation compounds were synthesized using gas phase
reaction. Highly oriented pyrolytic graphite , synthetic
graphite powder, pitch-based and PAN-based carbon fibers, which
possess different geometric morphology and microstructures, were
used ad carbon host materials in order to study the host effect
on the synthesis and structure of graphite intercalation
compounds . The structure and morphology were studied using X-
ray diffraction ,scanning electron microscopy and transmission
electron microscopy. The thermal stability was investigated
using Thermogravimetry analysis. The distribution of intercalant
inside the host materials was also analyzed quantitatively using
election probe microanalyser . For copper ;chloride intercalant,
stage1, stade2, and mixed stage1 and stage2 graphite
intercalation compounds were obtained . However, only stage1
structure was found for iron chloride graphite intercalation
compounds. Experimental results also indicated great host effect
on the distribution of intercalant and structure of graphite
intercalation compounds.
