Abstract :
Information systems planning (ISP) process is a management
activity condu- ted in an organization context. It is
essential to articulate the relationsh- ip between
organizational characteristics and IS planning characteristics,
to manage the relevant important organizational management
activities for the goal of IS planning success. The purpose
of this research is to realize the relationship between
organizational characteristics and IS planning characte-
ristics of Taiwan enterprises through the method of mail survey
to IS depart- ment executives.
This study constructs the predict and criteria variables by
means of paper archival and mails survey questionnaires to
members of the R.O.C. Information Manager Association 1996.
The outcome exhibits there are two dimension "qual- ity of the
IS planning process" and "planning effectiveness" suitable for
IS planning evaluation, and five organizational
characteristics "quality of str- ategic business planning"
"implementation" "facilitation of interaction betw- een
business and IS department" "resources" "future role of IS in
organizati- on" in order are significantly positive correlated
with the IS planning succ- ess. In context, the relationship
between predict and criteria variables are explained,
research conclusion as well as future research are pointed out
in the end. The research result provides reference for
domestic enterprises eng- aged in IS planning managing
pertinent organizational management process and approach for
IS planning evaluation.
