Description
Summary:碩士 === 淡江大學 === 資訊工程學系 === 85 === There are three kinds of network transport service over Internet : unicast, multicast, and broadcast transport services. Each kind service has its own characteristics and drawbacks. Among them, a better way to transmit data from one source to many destinations is to provide a multicast transport service. With a multicast transport service, a single node can send data to multiple destinations by making a single service call. However, most existing high-level network protocols provide the unicast transport seThe multicast transport service is a very important capability for DIS exercise. In DIS standard, application protocol uses this function to reduce network traffic while supporting real-time interactions among networked virtual reality systems. However, Internet does not innately support multicast capacity, whereas existing DIS network environments are built on either Defense Simulation Internet (DSI) or Multicast Backbone (MBone). Both DSI and MBone are special networks since they use dedicate multicast roIn this thesis, a new concept called Virtual Multicast Router (VMR) is proposed. Virtual Multicast Router uses a well-known concept, Tunnel, over Internet to provide multicast transport service. First, multicasted data are sent to the source Virtual Multicast Router to encapsulate these multicasted data into unicast packets, and send them into Internet. After receiving those unicast packets, destination Virtual Multicast Router decapsulate these unicast packets and broadcast them over its subnet. With this
