Summary:碩士 === 淡江大學 === 美國研究所 === 85 === The thesis seeks to analyze how the US government managed the mutual visitswith the Republic of China. Based on the U.S. national interests, after ColdWar, U.S. made some adjustments toward R.O.C. to evaluate the officials'' levelto visit Taiwan. As to research method, the study applies theory-confirmingand hypothesis-generating case study. Derived from concepts of theroies ofinternational system and neoliberalism, there is on hypothesis presented tobe testified by Chapter Four, Five and Six. The study concentrates on thediscussion of four crucial dimensions, including high-level officials, congressmen, governors and state legislators. Chapter One is the introductionin this study. Chapter Two discusses two theories- international system andneoliberalism. As a background to introduce the relationship between U.S. andR.O.C. in Carter''s years in Chapter Three. From Chapter Four to Chapter Sixuse theories to testify the hypothesis. The conclusion reveals that U.S.government plays an active role in mutual visits with the R. O.C. after ColdWar; and companied with the increasing importance in economics, U.S. sends high-levels with the power of decision to show their emphasis on R.O.C.
