碩士 === 東海大學 === 景觀學系 === 85 === By investgating the relationship among the social-economic background, the attributes of affecting residents''participation attitudes and the viewpoints to the public-participation in environmental planning of the residents in Ann-Long neighborhood. The study is designed to find out the residents'' attitudes toward participating the planning of Mei-Chuan waterfront in Taichung. And the results can be applied in public-participation in community planning or designing.The author suggests that: (1)the planning of Mei-Chuan waterfront should be appropriately guided by experts, and (2)residents can still participate using the traditional participatory techniques. (3)The best candidates in participaing the Mei-Chuan waterfront planning are the retired elders of their fifties and live in neighborhood over forty years.And(4)these elders can begin with help data preparing or collecting. Finally, residents do appreciate the values of participatory-planning. They also agree that psychological factors are more important than actual contribution in participatory-planning process. However, their willingness of participating in Mei-Chuanwaterfront planning is low. This contradictory attitude clarifies the appropriation of using participatory-planning technique.And it urges us to think that what is the most appopriate planning method which meets the needs of reflecting Ann-long neighborhood''s characteristics.
