Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立台灣工業技術學院 === 機械工程技術研究所 === 85 === Reverse engineering is widely applied at the initial stage ofproduct development, particularly in case of products that are highly style- or vision-motivated. It starts with transforming the surface of an object, either a clay model or a physical product, into a series of point coordinates. The point data then become input into a CAD system and, based on the techniques of curve- and surface-fitting, a geometric model, in the form of surface or solid, for the product is built. It follows in immediate sequence to analyze and modify geometry of the part until an optimum model emerges. The very first step in overall reverse engineering is to acquire point data. The fineness and correctness of the data significantly affects the quality of the final CAD model. Therefore, it is highly in question as how to acquire better- structured point-data or how to adjust and edit them. This thesisattempts to apply the concept of minimum energy to control the curvature of curves, so as to smooth curve segments off convex orconcave shapes and to achieve a well-furnished curve. It is even probable to further control curves* curvature in order to obtain sspecial curves in need.
