碩士 === 國立台灣工業技術學院 === 管理技術研究所 === 85 === Due to the rapid development of the World Wide Web technology, the use of applications is no longer constrained by the incompatibility among platforms. Consequently, the collection and analysis of data is much easier and faster. The main objective of this thesis is to utilize WWW technology to construct data visualization tool on the Internet . This research employs parallel coordinate system for displaying multi- dimensional data ,which in term can be used as a visual tool and aid decision making .The representation of the parallel coordinate system and that of the Cartesian coordinate system exhibit duality . By using such a property ,the problem of finding if scattered points in an n-dimensional space are close to certain lines can be transformed to the problem of indenifying "denser" areas in the parallel coordinate system . A cross-platform visualization tool is developed on the WWW by using JAVA programming language to display and manipulate data represented in the parallel coordinate system .
