碩士 === 國立台灣工業技術學院 === 管理技術研究所 === 85 === Because of the forming of the Global Village, the competition amongenterprises is getting intense.In order to increase the competitiveness ofproducts, the sequential production methodology advocated after IndustrialRevolution can no longer meet our demand.Recently, Concurrent Engineering is introduced in many companies to shorten the product development life-cycle,which enables the products to have an edge over competitors in terms of time-to-market. However, with the advent of the information technology and computernetworks, more data can be processed.By utilizing product data managementsystem(PDMS) handle and store all the data from pre- design to the completionof production.Moreover, through computer networks, product data management systems can process data distributively. Therefore, product data managementsystems become an indispensable tool for implementing concurrent engineering. Because multimedia information(eg., text, voices, and images), can be transported on the World Wide Web(WWW), this research constructs the coremodule-the design management systems of product data management systems on the WWW.Such a system can substantially increase the performance and precision of product design processes.At the same time, by using the distributednetworking, this system can make the communication between designers and manufacturing engineers much easier, which can reduce the number of design changes and subsequently reduce the time for product development.
