and compare the concerning behaviors of the parents with the
children who have congenital heart disease and have been taken
surgery after a month to a year.Data was collect from a
retrospective interview that the interview was asked
individually to describe their experiences of looking after a
congenital heart disease child.The process recordings were
written following the interviewing. Concluding analysis was done
to describe and classify the parents'' concerning behaviors,and
those behaviors were distributed into a description and a
frequent occurrence. The main findings revealed three
categories of concerning behaviors by theparents taking care of
a congenital heart disease child who had a surgery whichinclud:
(1) expressive behavior; (2) seeking behavior; and (3) adaptive
behavior. (1)Expressive behavior is that the parents express
the concern by their personal senses,feelings and mood.
(2)Seeking behavior is that the parents seek resources and
supportive system to resolve and balance their problems.
(3)Adaptive behavior is that the parents take some resolution in
advance, and prepare a comfortable and safe enviornment to
prevent the child being hurt. In 4065 of concerning
behaviors, the highest occurence of concerningbehaviors is
expressive behaviors, from father is 68%(1190/1748) and from
mother is 72%(1663/2317). The second one is adaptive behavior
andthe third one is the seeking behavior. The major aspects of
parents'' concern were the body characteristics andthe situation
of rearing; the body characteristics including body function,
body structure, body feelings and social function;the situation
of rearingfor the children including eating, motor activity,
sleeping and eliminating.In addition,the parents paid more
attention in the situation of rearing fortheir children.
Moreover, the fathers perceived the children''s motor activity as
important which differed from the mothers, who perceived their
children''seating as important. In the aspect of body
characteristics, both fathers and mothers agreed the body
function of their children as important. This study results
provide professional nurses to plan a better dischargecare and
home care. The results of this research not only offered
recommendations,but also contributed to a relating research to
establish a complete and nativereference for nursing. Indeed,
this study deveolop home care as central partof nursing and also
assist with those families who have children with congenital
heart disease to enhance their quality of life.
