Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 機械工程學系 === 85 === In order to enhance the production efficiency of dies in
Taiwan, we explore "High Speed Milling" and "Rapid
Prototyping" to apply to die manufacturing. Hoping to
shorten the cycle time of production and decrease the
production cost. In the process of high-speed milling,
increasing cutting speed of machining directly enhances
productivity. This research designed an experiment to report the
situation in the process of high-speed milling applying to die
manufacturing, and measured the machining time and
results in comparison with current process nowadays. The
results of experiment show that the surface roughness values
(Ra) of tool steel were as low as 0.5μm achieved by high-
speed milling. Moreover, the productivity in high-
speed milling is 4.5 times of that in conventional milling. In
the other hand, the Rapid Prototyping technology just develops
to maturity and adapts to business use in the late 10 years.
This thesis, then, specially introduces its theory basis and
development, and analyzes its applying values in the design and
manufacturing of molds.
