Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 資訊工程學系研究所 === 85 === This thesis is devoted to generate photorealistic image of ocean waves and
the related effects. We propose some modeling/rendering procedures for
generating ocean images. This thesis discuss the issues on oceanography-based
ocean waves modeling, ocean waves rendering, and ocean spray rendering. Con
sidering a ship sailing across the ocean that incurs waves, the effects around
the ship is simulated by applying basic wave propagation mathematics. By adju
sting heuristic weighting of lighting coefficients according to the time and
the environment, we are able to render the ocean scene corresponding to 24 ho
urs of one day. Till now, each frame takes less than 2 seconds for rendering,
and the resulting images are very amazing with sky background of a real imag
e. In addition, we will apply the research to another project, of which one re
quirement is interactive and real-time display of ocean waves. Therefore we ai
m to develop a fast rendering of ocean waves without using ray-tracing methods
in the work.
